Torsades de pointes is an uncommon but potentially life-threatening ventricular arrhythmia associated with prolongation of the QT interval. It can cause fainting and, in some cases, cardiac arrest.

Fainting, a racing or pounding heartbeat, or a seizure while taking any medicine is an emergency and warrants immediate medical attention.
